The main features of the Canon EOS 450D

The Canon EOS 450D has more features than you can shake a stick at. Below are just some of the ones you really need to know about.

The EOS 450D (Rebel xsi) can capture around 3.5 frames per second (3.5 fps) for a continuous blast of up to 53 large JPEG images (only 6 in RAW).

For detail, the 12.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor enables you to capture poster-size prints and provides extra flexibility when cropping. This sensor is very sensitive in low light and is virtually noise-free.

Canon's built-in dust prevention system uses three methods to keep images produced by the EOS-450d blemish-free. Firstly Canon use very specialised materials which reduce dust generation within the camera. Secondly, a Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit shakes any dust from the sensor each time the camera is turned on or off. Finally, any stubborn dust spots are electronically mapped for easy removal using Digital Photo Professional.

The 9 AF points are spread out across the frame to better accommodate off-centre subjects. The central AF point is a high sensitivity cross type sensor for quick and accurate focusing with f/2.8 and faster lenses.

Then the bright 3.0" LCD provides sharp definition for checking focus and composition, with up to 10x magnification for finer details. Live View mode gives you the option of framing the image from the LCD, and a choice of focussing modes for when you find yourself shooting from awkward positions,

Processor Features

DIGIC III processor
The DIGIC III processor renders colours with brilliant, true-to-life precision. Captured images are processed in 14-bit colour depth for finer tonal gradations. It is well renowned for its white balance accuracy, DIGIC III works efficiently to minimise power consumption while maintaining ultra-fast response times.

The EOS 450D boasts a large viewfinder which gives you a bright and clear view enabling easy composition of any scene.

Picture Style presets give you total image control. Contrast, sharpness and saturation can be customized in-camera or through the supplied Picture Style Editor software. After the shoot, Canon's RAW processing software Digital Photo Professional provides everything you may need to manage and process your RAW images.

The EOS 450 is Compact and lightweight. It is ergonomically designed for natural and intuitive handling, and is housed in a compact body that weighs in at only 475 grams.

The Canon EOS 450D is compatible with over 60 EF/EF-S lenses and all EX Series Speedlite flash units.
